Is there even a wagon any-more?
Like childbirth, the memory of how bad eating bad is for you can be fades! Fibro, the fatigue, and the down right depression that is settling in with every nommed on sugary goodness. Dieting isn’t the answer! * hiss of evil*. BUT The one area that is not overly encouraged is Listening to YOUR Body. Give it a shot? more
Wheat Belly Analogy!
Say you live in a village.
And in this village, everyone drinks water from the same well in the center of town. Everyone brings their own bucket, lowers it, brings it back up and carts it home to have water to drink and cook.
One day, 9 out of 10 people drinking from the well get sick. Suspecting that it’s something in the water, those 9 out of 10 stop drinking the water, retrieving water instead from the river 2 miles away. Those 9 out of 10 quickly get better.
They then return to the well for their water. After all, it’s right in the center of town and not a couple of miles away. The 9 out of 10 get sick again. They stop drinking the water from the well, then get better again.
On again, off again. The process repeats itself over and over again, reproducibly and consistently. Few are spared.
So the mayor declares the water tainted. “The solution is simple,” he proclaims. “Stop drinking from the well and drink only from the river!”
Ah, but then the political fireworks…
DR. WILLIAM DAVIS has a great analogy for the Wheat industry. Check him out at Wheat Belly Blog dot com.
I would have told you ” You are Crazy!”
I toss my boxes of sweet Oreos, bags of fluffy white bread and foil wrapped pouches of ‘made with juice’ Gushers on the conveyor belt. “It’s just food. It’s not going to kill you.” Five years later I catch a glimpse of the conveyor belt in front of me and sigh. Bulk section plastic bags twist-tied with numbers show off their contents of quinoa, brown rice flour, sunflower seeds and walnuts. more
Sickly Sweet
ADD, ADHD, Chronic fatigue, Fibro, diabetes, and the general wear and tear of a society based on doing more, faster and longer all require from us a constant reliable energy source. We know that candies, sodas and the processed foods are NOT good fuel sources for our bodies… but they are not the only forms of sugar that enter our body. more
Like Clockwork?
How about some nutrition not just ‘pipe purgers”. Flax instead of jars of metamucal? A smoothy in the morning sounds like easy medicine to take. more
Quinoa Who?
It is a grain-like crop grown primarily for its edible seeds. It is a broad leaf plant rather than a true cereal, or grain, as it is not a member of the grass family. Quinoa is closely related to species such as beets, spinach, and tumbleweeds. more
NOT starving. That is obvious!
The convenience of packaged foods is returning. Brands like Udi, GFGoodie, Celimix, Pamela’s, Kinnikinnik and many others are forging a whole new aisle in the grocery stores. The key word being AISLE!!! These are still treats, prepackaged and part of the 20% area! GF Aisle being 20% of the shopping and 20% of your plate! more
